We show you how to get the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S up to the latest build of Google's Android platform

The Arc S was one of the last smartphones to come out of Sony's relationship with Ericsson, and quite a phone it is too.

The device is powerful, easy on the eye and performs brilliantly thanks to its Android Gingerbread operating system - but imagine how much slicker, faster and more powerful it would be with Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich, on board?

Thankfully, the Arc S is one of the device's that has been singled out to receive the update from Sony and you can upgrade yours now if you follow our simple instructions!

  1. Grab your Sony Ericsson Arc S
  2. Plug it in to your PC or Mac
  3. Head over to Sony's official site and download its PC/Mac companion software
  4. Once the software has downloaded, install it
  5. Run the companion and follow the on-screen prompts to receive your update!
  6. Sit back, relax, and enjoy Android 4.0

  1. I am amazed at how well this phone performs. Also very surprised that didn`t comment on some very keen features of the camera. Some that many other smart phones do not have. Such as, exposure compensation, commented that photos were often bright, well, that what EC is for, underexpose by 2/3rds of a stop and hey presto, you will do what SE designed it for.

Camera also has anti shake feature, which works very well indeed for taking pics in low light. White balance can be changed, were in UK would strongly suggest leaving on cloudy when outside, no matter how sunny it is, you will get horrible blue cast if on sunny WB. That setting is for Florida sky.

You have excellent focus modes and exposure modes, read about them and get the most out of camera. I have printed pictures up to 8 x 10 inch and results are frankly superb for a phone. Beats a lot of cheaper compacts I would dare bet.

Internet is blistering fast, I can, on wifi load up Techrad`s review pages in about 9-ish seconds, this is on par with my daughters iPhone 4s, and that is real quick. We also have a mobile phone that has to be one of the smartest and classiest ever designed. So wtf do people still go crazy and must have Apple must have Apple. It`s like 1984 they are all brainwashed with very clever marketing.

  2. Yeah.. after updating Android 4.0 it's just unbelievable.the quality i like most is it's camera. The camera is super fine, and very very quick when it comes to focusing and taking the shot, you can quickly take shot after shot with only a second delay in between each of them.
